Nohelia Zamora

Nohelia Zamora

Nohelia del Carmen Zamora Martínez was born and raised in Managua, Nicaragua. She is a young woman with great qualities and virtues: she is sensitive, has a strong and tenacious character, and loves animals and reading about psychology. Nohelia has worked at the Center for the Prevention of Violence (CEPREV) for five years. She works with gang-involved youth from marginalized neighborhoods in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. Nohelia began volunteering at CEPREV as an 18-year-old university student. Although she had a very protected childhood and was used to a different world, Nohelia became dedicated to supporting the youth she worked with at CEPREV. She could see that beyond their hardened and angry faces, they had good hearts and needed affection and opportunities. It takes a very special person to do what Nohelia does every day. She is an inspiration to the youth she works with and to all those who know her.
