June 15, 2005-New York-MADRE, an international women's human rights organization, has been awarded a four-star rating (the highest given) by Charity Navigator, the largest independent evaluator of charity organizations in the US. MADRE was recognized for the distinction based on its strong fiscal management and its commitment to using donor contributions efficiently and transparently.
Commenting on the outstanding rating, MADRE Executive Director Vivian Stromberg said, "We're thankful for this recognition from Charity Navigator that affirms that MADRE's work is based not only on sound principles, but on sound business practices. Especially given the scope of our work, we are proud of the fact that MADRE is a small staff that works hard to keep administrative costs low so that the bulk of any contribution goes directly to our programs for women and families."
