November 6, 2024
This is a day of overwhelm, grief, and fear.
People in the U.S. and around the world have lost their lives, loved ones, health, homes, and fundamental human rights because of the decisions of the man who has now been re-elected to a position of extraordinary power.
We know what we are up against. This president-elect’s violent policy actions and proposals have attacked people already threatened by systems of oppression. He does this while eroding fundamental human rights of Black, Indigenous, immigrant, and LGBTQIA+ communities, with a particular disdain for women, activists, journalists, and people with disabilities.
As we have before, we will face hatred and bigotry with defiant courage, community, and care. We will pull each other closer to stand up and protect each other. We will hold the line to defend our rights. We will be resilient and creative to seek out any opportunity to sustain our work for women and families in the US and around the world.
Angela Davis taught us: “You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.” That is what we are here, in the darkest of times, to do: to protect those most in danger and radiate our shared vision of feminist peace, care, and collective liberation.
In the United States, we are at a moment of deep sorrow — and in that sorrow is the seed of transformation. Whatever comes next, we’re still building a future of peace and justice. Join us as we power this movement forward, together.
